How many of you enjoy the theatre? and not just the christmas panto. I love the theatre. Whether I go see a dramatic play or a musical. I find the theatre a magical expierence. I love the atmosphere. But for many autistic people it can be a terrifying time. The echo of voices in the foyer as everyone is speaking at once. The unexpected music in the theatre even the lights. The lights are a personal peeve of mine. All these things can cause a meltdown or a sensory overload. And from personal experience this is quite unpleasant. We need to make the world not just the west end a more autism friendly place. Where I live, I am glad a lot of the traffic lights have been changed from a pip to a changing light to let us know when to cross. The pip used to always scare me. It is far too loud for my wee cousin who has auditory processing problems. But back to the stage!. I am completely supportive of changing London’s West End to a more relaxed perforamance area. Toning down the music and the lighting to make it a more enjoyable expierence had by all. Having the doors to the auditorium open at all times so that if a person is overwhelmed they can leave and take a break. I see it nearly everywhere they have relaxed cinema performances for all the major films now. Why can’t it be the same for the theatre? Fingerprints I am asking you another favor like I did during my Kevin Healey Post. Sign the petition and lets make the west end suitable for the spectrum. https://www.change.org/p/producers-in-the-west-end-schedule-more-relaxed-performances-in-london-s-west-end
